SITE VISIT

ASCE student chapter organized a site visit for M.tech students of School of Civil Engineering on 02/08/2019 (Tuesday), 11:00 am at a bridge site on Nandankanan Road.

The visit was guided by Prof.P.Saha (Faculty at School of Civil Engineering). The objective of the visit was to make the students aware of practical design. Prof. Saha explained the different components of the bridge and elaborated on how the components are designed later in class.

This was aimed to fulfill the activity based learning pattern of our University. After the site visit, the same bridge with similar dimensions was designed in the classroom. Such kinds of activities always help the students to relate the theoretical things with practical life.

SITE VISIT Kuakhai bridge

In order to encourage and mold the academic skills of students, ASCE organized number of site visits in the year 2019 0ne such visit was organized on 12/11/2019 (Tuesday), 10:00 am at Kuakhai bridge in Odisha. The visit was guided by Prof.P.Saha (Faculty at School of Civil Engineering), where he shared his vast knowledge & experience on bridge engineering. He explained the different components of a bridge with live examples on the site, he elaborated on how different types of bridges are constructed.

Three different types of bridges were constructed at that site.  Prof.P.Saha explained how they were built and the purpose of each design. He further explained the functions of different components of the bridge.

CIVIWIZ

ARCHOMATTONE

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) along with ASCE and KSCE student chapter organized “ArchoMattone” on 21/02/2020(Friday), 4:00 PM at OAT-2, School of Civil Engineering. The ArchoMattone was a fun activity-competition. Students were required to build an arch out of 20 fly ash bricks and sand (provided during competition). The arches were then load tested and the structure to withstand the highest load was to be declared the winner. 15 teams of about 5 members each participated in this competition. Faculty members (School of Civil Engineering, KIIT) – Prof. Sunny Jaiswal and Prof. S.S. Panda were present to guide the students in this competition.

KSCE

KIIT School of Civil Engineering” (KSCE) is a Student Society under KSAC. The society aims to provide a platform for the students to think, reflect and wonder about the phenomena involved in civil engineering.

Most students generally lose their interest in engineering and focus on grades during their studies. This Society desires to reinforce the knowledge and excitement they attained in their classes through interesting activities. The students would expose themselves to different areas of civil engineering and also engage in teamwork learning and helping others.

The society also contributes its ideas to the students and organizes many events in the institute, which includes both live and online events.

Unlike other societies, this society produces a whole separate constitution for its society members. The rules and regulations mentioned in the constitution are strictly abided by the members. The Constitution aims at establishing standard procedures and code of conduct to be followed in the Society, emphasizing the major values that the society embodies and to establish continuity in the functioning of Society from year to year. The Constitution shall be guiding spirit for the Society and its members in its functioning.

So through this page Society KSCE appeals to all those enthusiastic students and engineers to take part in the activities related to civil engineering and help the society in the development of engineering and technology.

There are four societies under the belt of KSCE.
