Transportation Infrastructure: Planning And Design

Objective

School of Civil Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University aims at imparting theory,
practical and software application related to highway planning, pavement analysis and design through one month training programme to students of
Civil Engineering via online mode.

Overview

The training focuses on state of the art highway alignment planning, layout and cross section of roads, material characterisation, pavement design using IIT Pave. Most important part of this internship programme will be practice of pavement analysis as per IRC 37:2018 using IITPave for design flexible pavements. Preparation of BOQ or understanding of boq of road work will also be covered.

Day 2 Module 2: Layout and Cross Section of National Highway Layout and Geometrics of typical section of highways in cutting and filling
Day 3 Reading of GA, layout plan and detail construction drawings of road works
Day 4 Reading of GA, layout plan and detail construction drawings of road works
Day 5 Reading of GA, layout plan and detail construction drawings of road works
Day 6 Module 3: Pavement Materials and Layers Introduction to Orange Book: MORTH Specification for Road and Bridge Works
Day 7 Subgrade, unbound and bound base, Stabilised/Bound Base and subbase
Day 8 Bituminous layers, modified and unmodified binder, bituminous mix and hot and cold bituminous mix
Day 9 Module 4: Design of Flexible Pavements as per IRC 37:2018 using IIT PAVE software Introduction & Principles of pavement design.
Day 10 Design of flexible pavements as per IRC:37-2018
Day 11 Use of IIT Pave for pavement design
Day 12 Use of IIT Pave for pavement design
Day 13 Use of IIT Pave for pavement design
