Manas Mishra
Assistant Professor
Manas is an assistant professor at the School of Civil Engineering at KIIT University. He works towards decreasing the gap between wastes and resources in India and abroad. His main focus is on increasing the utilisation of industrial wastes as acceptable alternatives to the virgin geomaterials. He has also worked in the area of problematic soils. He has done collaborative research with professors and scholars at University of Illinois (Chicago), IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, Shantou University (China), and IIT Gandhinagar. Mishra has completed his technical education (B.Tech, M.Tech. and Ph.D.) in civil engineering from Institutes of National Importance. His inclination towards teaching was influenced and strengthened during his M.Tech. at IIT Gandhinagar which boasts of a very versatile pedagogy as well as faculty. Mishra has a rich experience of handling various industrial and commercial projects in Bangalore and Chennai regions while working on site as a booking and planning engineer with consolidated construction consortium limited. He was working with KIIT University as an Assistant Professor after his masters at IIT Gandhinagar. During his tenure at KIIT, he was part of the core team to start a new program, "Construction Management and Infrastructure Development (CMID)", which was designed specifically to better equip B.Tech. graduate Civil Engineers to deal with the challenges of the construction industry. He joined KIIT University again in 2023 after having completed his Ph.D. from IIT Bhubaneswar in the same year. He is passionate about cycling, swimming, biking, diving, cliff jumping, and exploring. He flaunts formidable culinary skills acquired from various parts of the country. He is a voracious reader, dynamic anchor and a captivating public speaker. He thinks his biggest contribution as a faculty would be to ignite the feeling of nationalism and patriotism in his students as well as the pride in India's rich culture.
