Sanjib Moulick
Professor/Dean
Dr. Sanjib Moulick received his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur in 2002. He subsequently worked as a Research Associate at IIT Kharagpur from 2002 to 2003, and then took on the role of Design Engineer for the Kerala Water Supply Project in Thiruvananthapuram. He served as a faculty at SASTRA University, Thanjavur from 2004 to 2007, and at IIT Kharagpur from 2007 to 2011. Since 2012, he has been with KIIT University, starting as an Associate Professor (II) and advancing to the rank of Professor in 2016. He served as Associate Dean of the School of Civil Engineering from July 2017 to October 2020, before becoming the Dean from October 2020 to June 2024. He currently holds the position of Dean at KIIT eXtension School, overseeing the university's online programs. During his tenure as Dean, the School of Civil Engineering achieved successful accreditation by both ABET, USA, and the NBA. He played a key role in establishing a partnership with L&T EduTech to introduce industry-focused specialization courses for B.Tech students, offering opportunities for industrial immersion, placement support, and internships. Additionally, he helped launch a Graduate Talent Development Program in Building Information Modeling (BIM) in collaboration with InteliBIM, aimed at final-year B.Tech students to equip them with vital skills for careers in construction technology and BIM. In partnership with UltraTech, Campus to Corporate program was launched for the final year BTech students, aiming to prepare them for corporate roles by combining academic coursework with internships. These collaborations with industry leaders provided students with exceptional access to real-world expertise, advanced technology, and a curriculum aligned with industry needs, ushering in a new era of growth and opportunity. Dr. Moulick specializes in Environmental Engineering, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment, water reuse system design, and water quality management. He has guided seven Ph.D. scholars and eleven M.Tech students. His research has led to the publication of 35 Scopus-indexed peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, along with two patents. He has been involved in six sponsored research projects, funded by agencies such as SERB, DST, MOES, NABARD, ISIRD, as well as an industry-funded project on the "Performance Evaluation of Basuaghai Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant," conducted by Ernst & Young LLP under the "Swachha Odisha Sustha Odisha" initiative. Over his 20-year academic career, Dr. Moulick has taught a variety of BTech and MTech courses, including Engineering Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Structural Analysis, Environmental Engineering I & II, Transport of Water and Wastewater, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, and Water Quality Modelling and Management.
