Geotechnical Investigational and Soil Testing

KIIT School of Civil Engineering in collaboration with Indian Geo Technical Society, Bhubaneswar Chapter organizes two days National Workshop on Geo Technical Investigation and Soil Testing on 27th and 28th January , 2018, the inaugural ceremony of which was held at Seminar Hall-1 of KIIT Campus-6. Gracing the inaugural session as the Chief Guest, Er. Bijan Kumar Behera, Chief Engineer-in-Charge, P.W.D. Department, Government of Odisha said, “We the Civil Engineers are ever challenged to build infrastructures which are cost effective without comprising the quality, durability and safety.”

The Chief Guest of the concluding ceremony expressed that KIIT is the right platform to conduct such type of National Events and success of this National Event has become possible because of the availability of the world class facilities in KIIT Campus. He further expressed that Indian Geotechnical Society would like to conduct many more functions of special importance with the cooperation of KIIT. administration in future. He added that the impact of this National level Geotechnical Workshop will be tremendous on the functioning of Civil Engineers of different Government organizations and specially Water Resource Department who take major challenges on Geotechnical Problems.

9th IconSWM-CE 2019

9th International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management towards Circular Economy (9th IconSWM-CE 2019) has been inaugurated at KIIT on 27th of November, 2019 organized by School of Civil Engineering. The speakers have emphasized on converting the wastages into resources and how its utilization will be helpful for Economy. The dignitaries laid focus on the management of different waste materials. In all, more than 1000 environmentalists and representatives from 30 countries have participated in this Conference. In order to gratify the Sustainable Development Goal, sustainable management of garbage and waste products apart from conservation of resources has become the basic objective of United Nations. In fact, the International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management towards Circular Economy movement (IconSWM-CE) was initiated for better waste management and environmental protection since the year 2009 through generating awareness and bringing all the stakeholders together from all over the world under the aegis of the ISWMAW. The IconSWM has become one of the biggest platforms in India for knowledge sharing, awareness generation and encouraging the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Government Departments, Researchers, Industries, NGOs, Communities and other stakeholders in the area of Waste Management in the country. The outcome of the Conference will be aptly useful for such organizations and people.

ICRDSI 2019

ICRDSI 2019 organized by School of Civil Engineering in association with Springer Nature Singapore Ptv Ltd., . The three-day International Conference on “Recent Developments in Sustainable Infrastructure (Material & Management)” (ICRDSI 2019) was inaugurated on 11 July at the KIMS Auditorium, Campus 5. The inaugural session was graced by a couple of foreign delegates of International repute as well as by eminent persons from academia, industry and Govt. Sectors. The Conference focuses on various themes like Green Building and Technology, Characterization of Geomaterials and Physical Modeling, Sustainable Materials, Composite and Sandwiched Structures, Computational, Analytical and Numerical Modeling, Forensic Geotechnical Engineering and Case studies, Water Resources Planning and Management, Pavement Materials, Maintenance and Management, Structural Dynamics and Structural Health Monitoring, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Innovative Construction Methods, Time and Cost Optimization in Project Management etc.

Prof. Tarun Kant, Chair Professor, IIT Mumbai stressed on the need to change the attitude towards current design practices and adopt designs that are most sustainable. Dr. C. P. Gomez, Professor, University Ton Hussein Onn Malaysia expressed the vital need of such conferences at this point of time and highlighted how the research and innovation on sustainable infrastructure needs to be applied in the practices.
