The School of Civil Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University, in collaboration with the AICTE Driven Cell for Climate Change & Idea Café and the SERB-CRG-SSR initiative, successfully organized the “AICTE Distinguished Professionals Workshop on Smart & Resilient Next-Generation Civil Engineering” on 24th April 2026.

The workshop, coordinated by Dr. Aparupa Pani, Dr. Satyajeet Nanda, and Dr. Sudhakar Sahu, focused on hands-on training in emerging AI/ML applications in Civil and Environmental Engineering. It witnessed participation from more than 80 faculty members and research scholars from various schools of KIIT—including Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, Electronics, Public Health, and Film & Media—as well as external institutions such as CV Raman Global University, GIET, Aryan Institute of Technology, OUTR, and Capital Engineering College.

The event featured Prof. Pijush Samui, NIT Patna, as the distinguished resource person. The inaugural session was graced by the Honourable Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, along with Dr. D. K. Bera, Dean, School of Civil Engineering, and other dignitaries.

The workshop also showcased two Social Scientific Responsibility (SSR) components under SERB Core Research Grant projects led by Dr. Aparupa Pani and Dr. Satyajeet Nanda, highlighting the impact of multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration.

A key highlight was the panel discussion on “Pathways to Successful Research Funding, Publication, and Consultancy,” chaired by Prof. Pijush Samui, with insights from Dr. B. G. Mohapatra and Dr. Ashok K. Sahoo.

The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates, marking a successful initiative towards fostering research, collaboration, and innovation.
