The Geotechnical Testing facility of School of Civil Engineering consists of Geotechnical Laboratory Test facility, Physical Model Test facility and Field Test Facility. Since its inception, Geotechnical Testing facility has been extensively used for conventional testing, research, and consultancy. Soil’s index properties, hydraulic properties, engineering properties and stress-strain behaviour of soil can be studied in the geotechnical laboratory. The geotechnical laboratory is one of the best laboratory located in this part of the world. The behaviour of various geotechnical structures in a reduced scale model is studied at the physical model test facility. Geotechnical testing facility also provides field test facilities like SPT, Field Stiffness, CPT, Plate load test etc.

The Structural Engineering Lab. has about 3000 Sqft.(100 ft x 30 ft.) Floor space with a strong floor of concrete of one meter depth. The laboratory has a clear height of 24 ft. , accommodating an electric over head crane of 10 ton. Capacity. The strong floor is designed to fix a number of loading frames as required for testing of structural elements like beams, slabs, grids, frames, domes, shells of both concrete as well as steel. In addition, the lab has one 40 t UTM, computer operated and one 100 t UTM both manually and computer operated. There is also a CTM of 200t capacity.Other equipments like concrete mixers. Vibrating tables are housed in the Lab.There is also provision for pre-stressing concrete beams, railway sleepers and electric concrete poles. We are in the process of procuring a servo controlled column testing machine, which can test columns up to 3 m height under axial and biaxial loadings.
