Kargil Vijay Diwas 2020

On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, recounting India's military victory against Pakistan in 1999, volunteers of NSS Builders paid a special tribute “Sharaddhanjali” to commemorate the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the Kargil War.
The online event was addressed by Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director SCE, with a brief lecture delivered by Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata, Programme Officer, NSS SCE. The invited speaker, Mr. Manas Chandan Mishra, a former Indian Army serviceman, shared insights on how the Kargil War was fought and the soldiers' commitment to the nation, and offered to support volunteers training to join the Indian Army. The vote of thanks was delivered by Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau, Prof. Kajal Parashar, and the event concluded with the National Anthem.

COVID-19 Awareness Programme

With the rise in COVID-19 cases in India, NSS Builders conducted an awareness programme on 9th August 2020. The online event was opened by Prof. Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau, with a brief introduction on COVID-19 and its impact on students' mental health.
The invited speaker, Dr. Dhirendra Singh, Associate Professor at the Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, spoke on COVID-19, its impact and the precautions needed to fight it. Pranav, a 4th-year NSS volunteer who had recently recovered from COVID-19, also shared his experience. Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director SCE, and Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata, Programme Officers, addressed the volunteers.

World Environment Day Workshop

KIIT NSS Bureau, School of Civil Engineering, in association with the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, organised a one-day workshop on World Environment Day, aiming to provide a master plan for a Swachh Campus. The workshop was addressed by Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata, with volunteers proposing strategies for environmental sustainability across KIIT University campuses.

Swachh Bharat Drive

Under the motto “Together we'll keep our environment clean,” NSS Builders organised the Swachh Bharat Drive on 4th July 2019 at KIIT Road. With an unclean and unhealthy environment posing a growing risk to living beings, this cleanliness drive was carried out by NSS Builders and members of the School of Civil Engineering.

Jal Sakti Abhiyan

Under the motto “Together, we'll protect the environment,” NSS Builders organised Jal Sakti Abhiyan on 20th July 2019 at Campus-3, Khatjori Campus. Following the severe impact of Super Cyclone Fani, which struck Odisha on 3rd May 2019 and stripped the city of its greenery, this plantation drive was undertaken by NSS Builders, members and staff of the School to rebuild and nurture the environment.

Under the motto “Together, we'll protect the environment,” NSS Builders organised a Mega Plantation Drive on 13th July 2019 at Campus-3, Khatjori Campus. Following the severe impact of Super Cyclone Fani on 3rd May 2019, this plantation drive was carried out by NSS Builders, members and staff of the School to rebuild the city's lost greenery.

Nukkad — “Violence Against Women”

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, NSS Builders performed a nukkad natak (street play) at Esplanade One mall, Bhubaneswar, themed on violence against women — addressing day-to-day problems faced by women in society, gender-based discrimination and social norms and stereotypes. The event, guided by Prof. Gaurav Udgata and Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal, aimed to spread a message of empowerment and women's safety to the audience.
