KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS 2020
On occasion of the 21th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, recounting India’s military victory against Pakistan in 1999, volunteers of NSS Builders of School of Civil Engineering paid a special tribute ‘Sharaddhanjali’ to commemorate the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the Kargil War.
The online event was addressed by Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Director SCE and a brief lecture delivered by Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata, Program officer, NSS SCE. Volunteers of NSS School of Civil Engineering attended the event along with the few faculty members of the School. In the event the volunteers explained the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The Invited speaker, Mr.Manas Chandan Mishra, who had served the Indian army earlier, gave a brief insight on how Kargil war was fought by our soldiers to reclaim the Indian land which was occupied by Pakistan and their commitment to the nation and the army.He also gave his all supports to our volunteers and students for training them to join Indian Army.The vote of thanks was delivered by our Programme Coordinator KIIT NSS Bureau, Prof Kajal Parashar and the event concluded by singing the National Anthem of India.
The event covered certain activities which were:-
- A presentation by the volunteers which explained when and why Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated.
- Presentation of small video that payed tribute to our martyrs and soldiers.
- Quiz through which an Of India participation E-certificate was provided to each participants present in the meeting.
We the volunteers of NSS School of Civil Engineering would like to thank our Founder sir, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Vice Chancellor Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Director SCE, Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra and Programme Coordinator KIIT NSS Bureau, Prof Kajal Parashar for their constant support and guidance.
COVID-19 AWARENESS PROGRAMME
With the rise in no. of COVID-19 cases in India, an awareness programme on the minacious virus was conducted on 9th August, 2020 by the volunteers of NSS BUILDERS, SCHOOL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING.
The online event was commenced by Prof. Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau by giving a brief introduction regarding COVID-19 and its impact on the mental health of students. Volunteers of NSS BUILDERS, School of Civil Engineering attended the event.
The Invited speaker, Dr.Dhirendra Singh, Associate professor, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, gave an elaborated cognizance on COVID-19, its impact and the precautions required to fight against it.
The following points were discussed by Dr.Dhirendra Singh :-
- The importance of social distancing.
- The various symptoms and traits of COVID-19 and the correct way to select Masks and Sanitizers for the same.
- The importance of exercise and use of suitable supplements for boosting immunity.
- The importance of keeping the government-introduced AarogyaSetu App updated.
- The positive impacts of the lockdown.
He also answered a few questions regarding COVID-19 asked by the volunteers.
In addition to that, Pranav, a 4th year volunteer of NSS, who recently recovered from COVID-19 interacted with the volunteers and shared his experience regarding his struggle with the lethal virus.
Dr. BenugopalMohapatra, Director SCE, motivated the students through his words in these tough times. Prof. Satya RanjanSamal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata, Program Officer, SCE also shared the importance of healthy change in lifestyle in this pandemic.
The volunteers of the NSS Bureau of KIIT School of Civil Engineering have extended thankfulness to the Hon’ble Founder Dr.AchyutaSamanta; Vice Chancellor Prof.HrushikeshaMohanty; Pro Vice Chancellor Prof.Sasmita Samanta; Director SCE, Dr.Benu Gopal Mohapatra and Programme Coordinator KIIT NSS Bureau, Prof KajalParashar for their constant support and guidance.
ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
KIIT NSS Bureau, School of Civil Engineering in association with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education organized a one day workshop on World Environment Day. Aiming to provide a master plan for Swachh Campus, this workshop was addressed by Prof. Satya Ranajn Samal and Prof. Gaurav Udgata on 5th June, 2020. Many volunteers of NSS Builders of KIIT School of Civil Engineering participated in this workshop, where strategies were proposed for bringing Environmental Sustainability to Campuses of KIIT University.
Thus, different strategies discussed to keep the environment clean were:-
- A cleanliness drive around the Campuses
- Providing dustbins at different places
- Creating an awareness of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
- Using least number of vehicles inside the Campuses to reduce pollution
- Planning for a Green Campus
- Sanitation and Hygiene
- Water Conservation
These were some of the points which were discussed during the interactive session. Where there is ownership, whether it is community or personal, there is commitment to keep a place clean. Therefore, we the volunteers of NSS Builders decided that even though we are at home we will still keep the environment clean and when we will return back to our Campus; these points will definitely be put into action.
In this context, the volunteers of NSS Builders have extended thankfulness to Honorable Founder, KIIT & KISS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta; Vice Chancellor Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty; Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Sasmita Samanta, and Director SCE, Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra for their constant support and guidance.
SWACHH BHARAT DRIVE
Together we’ll keep our environment clean. By this motto NSS BUILDERS (KIIT School of Civil Engineering) organised Swachh Bharat Drive on 4th July 2019 at KIIT Road. Since, an unclean & unhealthy environment is becoming risk to living beings in this planet; this cleanliness drive was a contribution of NSS BUIDERS and members of KIIT School of Civil Engineering. Let us take a pledge to keep our environment clean as it is our basic need of life. This event was successfully accomplished.
JAL SAKTI ABHIYAN
Together, we’ll protect the environment. By this motto NSS BUILDERS (KIIT School of Civil Engineering) organized JAL SAKTI ABHIYAN on 20th July 2019 at Campus-3, Khatjori Campus. After the severe impact of super cyclone “FANI” that hit Odisha on 3rd May 2019, the city had lost its greenery. This plantation was done under Jal Sakti Abhiyan that was the contribution of NSS builders, Members and Staffs of KIIT School of Civil Engineering to rebuilt the environment as well as nurture them like parents. This event was accomplished by success.
MEGA PLANTAION UTSAV

NUKKAD
“VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN”
The theme for the nukkad was “Violence against women” which depicts about day to day problems faced by the women in society, gender-based discrimination and social norms and gender stereotypes. All the members of nukkad and volunteers given their efforts to throw an important message for women. On occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, NSS Builders (KIIT, School of Civil Engineering) performed a nukkad at Esplanade One mall, Bhubaneswar. The event was guided by the Prof. Gaurav Udgata & Prof. Satya Ranjan Samal. Empowerment and women safety to the audience.
