SITE VISIT

ASCE student chapter organized a site visit for M.tech students of School of Civil Engineering on 02/08/2019 (Tuesday), 11:00 am at a bridge site on Nandankanan Road.

The visit was guided by Prof.P.Saha (Faculty at School of Civil Engineering). The objective of the visit was to make the students aware of practical design. Prof. Saha explained the different components of the bridge and elaborated on how the components are designed later in class.

This was aimed to fulfill the activity based learning pattern of our University. After the site visit, the same bridge with similar dimensions was designed in the classroom. Such kinds of activities always help the students to relate the theoretical things with practical life.

SITE VISIT Kuakhai bridge

In order to encourage and mold the academic skills of students, ASCE organized number of site visits in the year 2019 0ne such visit was organized on 12/11/2019 (Tuesday), 10:00 am at Kuakhai bridge in Odisha. The visit was guided by Prof.P.Saha (Faculty at School of Civil Engineering), where he shared his vast knowledge & experience on bridge engineering. He explained the different components of a bridge with live examples on the site, he elaborated on how different types of bridges are constructed.

Three different types of bridges were constructed at that site.  Prof.P.Saha explained how they were built and the purpose of each design. He further explained the functions of different components of the bridge.

CIVIWIZ

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) along with ASCE and KSCE student chapter organized “Civiwiz” a Quiz competition on 14/02/2020(Saturday), 4:00 PM at the Conference Hall, School of Civil Engineering. The Civiwiz was a Quiz Competition where 30 teams each consisting of 2 members, participated. This event was organized under the guidance of faculty members of the School of Civil Engineering, KIIT DU – Prof. Dipti Ranjan Biswal and Prof. Moibullah.

ARCHOMATTONE

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) along with ASCE and KSCE student chapter organized “ArchoMattone” on 21/02/2020(Friday), 4:00 PM at OAT-2, School of Civil Engineering. The ArchoMattone was a fun activity-competition. Students were required to build an arch out of 20 fly ash bricks and sand (provided during competition). The arches were then load tested and the structure to withstand the highest load was to be declared the winner. 15 teams of about 5 members each participated in this competition. Faculty members (School of Civil Engineering, KIIT) – Prof. Sunny Jaiswal and Prof. S.S. Panda were present to guide the students in this competition.
